A SPECTACULAR vision of a new 100-hectare park for London has been unveiled by the Olympic Delivery Authority. Images of the planned London 2012 Olympic Park show a green haven in east London, which is designed to provide a retreat from city life for residents and tourists long after the 2012 games are over. Visitors will enjoy broad sweeping lawns and footpaths leading down to riverbanks, ample seating and public spaces throughout the park, according to the Olympic Delivery Authority. Some of the images are shown below:
Live screens will show the sporting action throughout the games, while the park will continue to host sports facilities including the Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre, and multi-sports arena once they are over. The computer-generated images demonstrate how the park is intended to look.
David Higgins, Chief Executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority, said: "During the Games the Olympic Park will create a festival atmosphere space for spectators and provide a fantastic green backdrop for the four billion people watching around the world on TV. "In legacy the Park will provide new green space for people and wildlife. It will also be designed to protect the area from floods, capture and clean rainwater and create vital and rare habitats for hundreds of species."
